I am still alive!

Hello!  I have not posted on this thing in FOREVER!

So much has changed since the last post.  We are back in Kansas City and have added to our family with our amazing little boy!

We have bought a house and I will be posting about all the renovations that will be going on in the next several months!  I will be posting to Kensington Lane so follow along if you would like and check out our progress!

Why call it Kensington Lane?  The neighborhood that our house is in is old.  Our house was originally built in 1942.  The homes are names after the original owners.  Therefore, our home was built by The Kensington family and so it is know as "Then Kensington"!  I love it!

Don't forget to follow!

Quote of the day...

People will talk about you when they envy you and the life you lead.

You affected their life.
Don't let them affect yours.

Rue Mag #5

I get so excited when I get an email telling me that a new issue of Rue Mag is out. They only publish every two months so the wait is long and I am always ready to see what inspiration the girls have put together. The most recent issue, I fell in love with this Beverly Hills APARTMENT of Jessica Marx. I love the colors and dramatic impact the rooms have!

Painting the apartment...

A couple months ago I decided I was sick about having beige walls we have to live with while renting an apartment.  I really don't like beige.  Although it can look really nice if done right, I feel like its pretty much the color everybody puts in their house because it's 'safe' and it's just too traditional and ordinary for me at this moment in my life!

I LOVE all white walls and I'm pretty much obsessed with anything black and white and eventually get some color punches on the walls or with some accessories.

I really like wallpaper but can't do that and it is definitely spendy, so I decided to get a Cutting Edge Stencil, the Casablanca pattern, to try to get the same affect as wall paper.  I wanted the wall to be predominantly white with the black design but since it was a reverse stencil, I had to first paint the wall black and then paint the stencil with white.  It took FOREVER!  Let's just say you can't do one coat of white over black...try doing FOUR coats and then you'll get the pure white!  Here are some pics of the process!

First had to paint the wall black
Let the stenciling begin...

Now I just need a rustic wood table, some navy velvet drapes and some hot pink touches and I will be done!

P.S.  Sorry for the bad pics...that's as good as I get with my iPhone camera skillz :)

Michelle Workman Interiors...

And the most Fabulous Kitchen I have seen in a LONG time!

The white kitchen below has been my favorite kitchen for 2 years...the one I WILL have in my future home (only with white carrera marble counters).  Now I'm questioning which one I want more...Which one do you like better?
Blue or White?
